6.6	Past of होना

The verb "to be" has a very easy past form:

था	[he] was	masculine singular
थे	[they] were	masculine plural
थी	[she] was	feminine singular
थीं	[they] were	feminine plural

The past of होना is used as the auxiliary verb in the following two verb tenses: the past imperfect and the past progressive.
